ARTIST STATEMENT
Seeking to illustrate the connective fabric underlying physical reality, I rely upon a balance of direct observation and symbolic interpretation to produce my output.I have classified my current paintings as "conceptual narratives." The visual subject generally involves ideas and-or specific objects that are removed from their relative context and transformed into symbols or iconographic forms. These schematically drawn ideas and-or painterly objects then weave a narrative of comparison, relationship, and definition of subject. Generally it is concerned with man verses his relation to the external world.
Lately my drawings have served a very different purpose than my paintings. My drawings, collages, and other non-paint, linear creations are often a documentation of the physical world and are greatly concerned with the societal definition of beauty in the media and technologys influence on humankind.
